Thermal hadron production in relativistic nuclear collisions
We present the status of the description of hadron production in central nucleus-nucleus collisions within the statistical model . Extending previous studies by inclusion of very high-mass resonances (m> 2 GeV), and the upto-now neglected scalar σ meson leads to an improved description of the data. In particular, the hitherto poorly reproduced energy dependence of theK/π ratio at SPS energies (...
متن کاملHadron Production in Relativistic Nuclear Collisions
Relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions create a ”fireball” of strongly interacting matter at high energy density. At very high energy this is suggested to be partonic matter, but at lower energy it should consist of yet unknown hadronic, perhaps coherent degrees of freedom. The freeze-out of this high density state to a hadron gas can tell us about properties of fireball matter.
متن کاملNon-relativistic Effective Theory for Quarkonium Production in Hadron Collisions
I review recent progress in understanding inclusive quarkonium production in hadron collisions. The rst part focuses on non-relativistic QCD as an e ective theory. I discuss its di erences from and similarities with e ective theories describing bound states of a single heavy quark, as far as matching calculations beyond tree-level and power counting are concerned. The second part summarizes pre...
متن کاملHadron Production and Phase Changes in Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions
We study soft hadron production in relativistic heavy ion collisions in a wide range of reaction energy, 4.8GeV < √ sNN < 200GeV, and make predictions about yields of particles using the statistical hadronization model. In fits to experimental data, we obtain both the statistical parameters as well as physical properties of the hadron source. We identify the properties of the fireball at the cr...
متن کاملResonant Slepton Production in Hadron–Hadron Collisions
We consider the resonant production of sleptons via 6Rp in hadron–hadron collisions followed by supersymmetric gauge decays of the sleptons. We look at decay modes which lead to the production of a like-sign dilepton pair. The dominant production mechanism giving this signature is the resonant production of a charged slepton followed by a decay to a charged lepton and a neutralino which then de...
